Her work is based on strategies of image appropriation, either from vernacular, media or institutional archives as a visual experimentation and a creative process. The common denominator of Hurtado’s language is a constant effort to tie the image with a desire to comprehend loss and absence, identity and memory, coupled with an aesthetic play on the hidden relationships between a given work and the spectator.

Graduated in Photography and Visual Arts from Instituto Cultural Cabañas 1992, and Digital Photography in 1998, from Grisart Escuela de Fotografía in Barcelona, Spain. Since 2012 is member of the National System of Creators of The National Fund for Arts and Culture of Mexico. Her work is based on strategies of image appropriation, either from vernacular, media or institutional archives and visual experimentation as a creative process. The common denominator of Hurtado’s language is a constant effort to tie the image with a desire to comprehend loss and absence, identity and memory, coupled with an aesthetic play on the hidden relationships between a given work and the spectator. Her work has been published in several books and magazines mostly in Mexico and has three artist-project / photobooks, published by the author. Has participated in over 20 group and 15 solo exhibitions in Mexico, United States, the Philippines, China, Chile, Switzerland, Italy, England, Germany and Spain.
