Stéphanie Roland makes films and installations that explore the invisible structures of the Western world, the large scales of time and hyperobjects, between the documentary and the imaginary. She draws her inspiration from various fields, ranging from ecology to politics, geology and the cosmos.

Stéphanie Roland is a Belgian-Micronesian visual artist and director. After graduating from La Cambre and studying with Hito Steyerl at UDK Berlin, she completed a course at Le Fresnoy - Studio National. Her work is regularly presented internationally, her projects have been included in major institutional exhibitions including the Louvre Museum, the Benaki Museum, the Botanique, the Kampala International Art Biennale and Wiels. Breda Photo, Belfast Photo festival, Manifesto, Encontros da Imagem, BIP Liège, MOPLA and Unseen are some of the festivals dedicated to photography in which she has participated.

In 2017, she was selected in the group exhibition of the Antarctic Pavilion for the 57th Venice Biennale. Her films have been screened in international festivals such as Visions du Réel, FID Marseille, ZINEBI, FEST New Directors / New Films, Rencontres Internationales Paris / Berlin, among others. His second short film, Podesta Island, had its world premiere at FID Marseille, where it won the Alice Guy Award. His latest film, Le cercle vide, won the TËNK prize at the festival, Visions du Réel 2022.
