Interview with Claire Ducène and Julie Nio

How can archive centres reconcile their own study and conservation needs, artistic approaches and public sensitivities?

How are artists appropriating archives today?

What is the place of the institution and the archive centre in these contemporary artistic approaches?

How can institutions build bridges between different modes of research?

Where do the boundaries and impassable markers of plastic research lie in relation to the characteristics of the archive?

These are all open questions that artists are asking themselves, as are archivists and all the players in the socio-cultural field who are increasing the number of links between the scientific and artistic communities. The archive centre is increasingly opening its doors to the public, with more meetings, residencies and exhibitions. And from a new angle, the public can discover the archive in a new form, through the lens of visual research and fiction.

These questions will be addressed in the company of Claire Ducène, visual artist and curator of the Memories Gone Wild exhibition, and Julie Nio, head of artistic and cultural programming at the Archives de Bordeaux Métropole.
